Meet the Doctors

Dr. Sandy

Dr. Sandy Gordon started out as a patient in Dr. Sharon’s practice when she was 10 years old. When she turned 16, she started working at Gorman Chiropractic as an assistant. Is was during her time in the office seeing people’s lives change and miracles happen that she knew it was her life’s mission to serve people and her community through chiropractic care. She graduated high school and started college at North Hampton locally so that she could continue to work at the office. After finishing her pre-requisite courses, she moved down to Marietta Georgia to attend Life University, to begin her chiropractic education. In 2009 she graduated from Life University and returned home with her husband and 2 year old son. Dr. Sharon has been her mentor through the years and it was Dr. Sandy’s dream to return back home to be a part of the practice that she grew up in.

Dr. Shaun was born in Phillipsburg, NJ and lived there for the first five years of his life. At age 10 he moved to Nazareth, Pennsylvania where he would finish his high school education at Nazareth High School. He had a great childhood filled with family gatherings, soccer, baseball, skateboarding, next door neighbor pals, and a wide exposure to all sorts of books, movies, games, and his fair share of childhood pranks.

Being that he is the first chiropractor in his family, Dr. Shaun hadn’t had much exposure to chiropractic until he was assigned a “graduation project” in 11th grade. This project encouraged students to examine options for their careers. A kind, outgoing person at heart and eager to help others, Dr. Shaun decided to investigate some of the different health care options. But right away medicine and surgery were out of the question largely because his mother and grandmother never seemed to turn to these options, and even from a young age something didn’t seem quite right about pill-popping and scalpels to Dr. Shaun. Near the beginning of the health care encyclopedia was a brief history and explanation of the chiropractic profession.

A picture of D.D. Palmer, the discoverer of chiropractic, was shown with his long, bristly beard and Dr. Shaun started to read. He soon encountered words like “subluxation,” “innate intelligence,” and the “chiropractic adjustment.” The encyclopedia continued on with an explanation about how the nerve system acts as the master control center of the body and how chiropractors help people live more fully by adjusting areas of the spine where the nerve system had lost complete communication with the brain. Dr. Shaun was intrigued, and these concepts, combined with the natural, hands-on quality of the work and many additional factors, helped him decide that this was his professional calling and dream.

After graduating high school in 2002, it wasn’t long before he earned a bachelor’s degree with honors and was on his way to Marietta, Georgia to attend Life University, the largest and greatest chiropractic school in the world. While attending Life and with the help of his greatest mentor, Dr. Sharon Gorman, Dr. Shaun had the privilege of gaining a solid foundation in the philosophy and practical application of chiropractic. Throughout his 3.5 years in the south, Dr. Shaun stayed constantly involved and went on to become the editor of the school newspaper, a distinguished brother of the famous Delta Sigma Chi chiropractic fraternity, and friend to hundreds of chiropractors and chiropractic students from all over the world. When Dr. Shaun graduated in June 2011, he did so with high marks and with the distinction of the having earned the coveted Chiropractic Philosopher’s Award for his class.

Today, Dr. Shaun serves the East Stroudsburg area in northeastern Pennsylvania at Gorman Chiropractic Life Center, adjusting hundreds of people each week, giving chiropractic lay lectures, and spreading the word about how important chiropractic is for a healthy and complete lifestyle.

Lucy
Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, I moved to the Poconos in July of 2005.  I am married 24 years and have three sons: Matt, Brian and Chris.  I have one dog, three cats and three birds.

I worked for a major financial institution for 33 years, mainly dealing with financial planning and investment banking.  I always enjoyed working with people.  I retired from the bank and moved to the Poconos to begin a new venture.

I obtained my real estate license and then for a short time, I worked at a casino.  After leaving the casino, I remained unemployed for a few months.  I was then offered a fabulous job here at Gorman Chiropractic.  I was a patient for four years and I always enjoyed coming into this office with my family for our weekly adjustments.

Now, working here has extended my family with my co-workers and patient.  Chiropractic is a way of life for not only me, but for my family.  I have made many new friends and look forward to working here for many years to come!

Hi, my name is Carmen Marti and I was first introduced to chiropractic care after a back injury 15 years ago.  This back injury helped turn on my knowledge and power of the healthy chiropractic lifestyle.  Working here at Gorman Chiropractic and meeting new patients is such a great thrill.  Not only have I made great friends with my co-workers, but also with those new and old patients.  Everyday is a learning experience to see the patients learn how to live a chemical-free life through chiropractic care.  My family and I are all patients at Gorman Chiropractic and are all working toward better health through life with chiropractic.

I have three sons:  Adam, a Marine stationed in San Diego, CA; Daniel, lives at home and attends college; and Emilio who is starting college this year.  My husband Alex is an electrician and a NY commuter.  Together we just celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary!
